You can book a refundable monthly stay online, then go check the apartment in person. If you like it, talk directly to the owner and ask if they are open to a cash deal after canceling the platform booking.
No platform fees means both sides win.
And yes, many landlords are open to this.
How I Actually Do It
Personally, I follow a different routine.
Every time I come back, I only rent a place in Da Nang for a few days. Just enough to have a base.
Then I go out and walk.

This is important.
Karaoke culture is big here. And while it can be fun to watch from a distance, it is very different when it is happening next to your bedroom at night.
Some evenings are quiet. Others feel like a live concert you did not sign up for.
3. Mold and humidity
This is a coastal city, and humidity is real.
I always check corners, wardrobes, and bathrooms carefully. Even a bright, clean-looking apartment can hide moisture issues.

Finding a place in Da Nang is not difficult.
But finding a place that actually fits your lifestyle requires a bit of patience.
When I stopped relying on apps and started walking around, talking to people, and exploring neighborhoods, everything changed.
Better prices of rent in Da Nang, better locations, and better experience overall.
